Olympics women's hockey final: Team USA, Canada meet for seventh all-time gold-medal match

Once again, it’s Team USA against Team Canada competing for gold in women’s hockey, carrying a storied rivalry into yet another session of the Olympic Games. Including the 2026 Milan Cortana Games, Canada and the U.S. have faced off in seven of eight Olympic finals since the inception of women’s hockey as an Olympic sport at the 1998 Games.

Now, the two teams face off as Team USA — led by captain Hilary Knight, competing in her fifth Olympic Games — looks to continue a dominant stretch, having outscored opponents 31-1 over six games, with their lone goal allowed having come against Czechia in the first of four preliminary-round games.

Marie-Philip Poulin's fifth Winter Olympics has been nothing but historic for the Canadian women's hockey team at the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics.

In Canada's close 2-1 win over Switzerland on Monday, Feb. 16, Poulin further etched her name into the Olympics record book as the all-time leading scorer in Olympic women's hockey action when she put one into the back of the net for her then-19th Olympic goal.
