The U.S. is off to a good start in the Olympic men's hockey tournament, beating Denmark 6-3 and Latvia 5-1. Their final challenge of group play comes against Germany.

While they won both of the previous games by three-plus goals, it also took the Americans a while to get going. Co-gold medal favorite Canada handled business early on Sunday with a 10-2 Shellacking of France in its final game of group play.

Mikaela Shiffrin can’t shake her Olympic demons

Mikaela Shiffrin has a case to be the best skier in the history of the world, and it's a testament to her success that an Olympic career with two gold medals and a silver could be considered a disappointment. But it's a subject that's hard to avoid at this point.

After a highly disappointing finish in the women's team combined earlier this week, Shiffrin finished in 11th place in the giant slalom, where she won gold in 2018 at PyeongChang.

Erin Jackson misses podium in defense of her 500m speedskating title

Erin Jackson's pursuit of a second consecutive gold medal in the 500-meter speedskate fell short on Sunday. She was no match for the Netherlands’ Femke Kok, who sprinted to an Olympic-record time of 36.49 seconds to win gold.

Jackson missed the podium entirely, finishing fifth — albeit five-hundredths of a second away from bronze. (Her time of 37.32 seconds placed eight-tenths of a second off the lead.) Kok was viewed as the favorite coming into Sunday’s race, but Jackson was considered a contender as the reigning gold medalist and two World Cup titles since the 2022 Beijing Games.
